An Ideas for Change delegation was present at the project kick-off meeting, celebrated last week.

The construction sector, responsible for over a third of the EU's energy-related greenhouse gas emissions, plays a pivotal role in achieving the EU's 2050 climate neutrality goal. The upcoming revision of the Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD) is part of a comprehensive package aiming to address this, but despite broad consensus on the importance of building renovations, the current rate stands at 0.2%. OneClickRENO (OCR) seeks to accelerate building renovations in the EU, contributing to a zero-emission building stock. Utilizing Building Renovation Passports (BRPs), it aims to make the benefits of comprehensive renovations tangible, providing a phased roadmap for specific buildings to facilitate cost-effective and well-planned interventions for property owners and investors.

In OCR, Ideas for Change (IFC) will be in charge of two different roles. On the one hand, it will provide a team responsible for designing and implementing the communication strategy of the project. This includes the creation of relevant content on different social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube), the publication of articles about the development and learnings of the project, and the creation of other types of content to engage with the different stakeholders interested in the project, including all the renovation value chain stakeholder list, but also policy-makers (let us not forget that the Energy Efficiency of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is in the process of being recast), energy efficiency players or tool developers amongst many others. On the other hand, IFC will also be responsible for the co-creation process of the demonstration in the real pilot market of equipping buildings with BRPs. To implement this, IFC will use the Pentagrowth methodology, allowing for a disruptive transformation, leveraging the diversity of stakeholders previously mentioned and the variety of angles to deploy innovative business strategies and provoke deep changes.

IFC will work alongside eleven other partners: Instituto Valenciano de la Edificación, Technische Universität Wien, Accademia Europea di Bolzano/Bozen (EURAC), Certimac, Stichting ISSO, IHER Energy Services Limited, Ubik Geospatial Solutions, Trek, Union Internationale de la Propriété Immobilière, Colegio de Administradores de Fincas de Valencia y Castellón, and Gamma Locations Labs.

The project is part of the EU LIFE programme, the only EU funding programme entirely dedicated to environmental, climate, and energy objectives. It contributes to the shift towards a clean, circular, energy-efficient, climate-neutral, and climate-resilient economy, including through the transition to clean energy, to protect and improve the quality of the environment.

We will keep you posted with the project updates and developments!
