At Ideas for Change, we believe that improving life in cities is in the hands of each and every one of us. For this reason, we have participated for a second time at Park(ing) Day Barcelona, a global initiative that occupies the public space of cities around the world to claim a greener, more resilient and people-centered urban model.

On this occasion, we installed a stand on Bailèn street to present the citizen science projects that we are currently working on and provide information to all those interested in becoming citizens committed to science.

The stand showed how citizens can contribute to science in a simple way and fully consistent with their daily activities. In addition, the space was decorated with vertical gardens provided by our collaborator Groots.

The visitors picked up their CitieS-Health Citizen Kit

Our presence in this edition of Park(ing) Day coincided with the launch of the CitieS-Health pilot in Barcelona, a citizen science experiment to measure how air pollution affects people's mental health.

More than 60 people collected their Citizen Participation Kit at our stand. In addition to instructions on how to get started on the project, the kit contains a NO2 collection tube to measure the real pollution to which the participants are exposed and a seed bomb to make our city greener.

If you could not visit our station, but want more information about the project, you can visit its website.

Projects to improve life in the city

Our citizen science projects explore different formulas for citizens to play an increasingly direct role in scientific research. We believe that nobody better than the inhabitants of a city or a territory is responsible for making decisions about which areas to study based on our concerns and needs.

For this reason, we strive to provide the necessary tools so that anyone can contribute to science, either by measuring the quality of the air we breathe, monitoring the traffic on our streets to improve mobility and urban planning, or registering odours to combat pollution.

If you dare to participate in our citizen science projects, you just have to visit this page and fill out the registration forms.

Help us create a better future!
