The challenge:

Analyse and support innovation with positive impact within the framework of Fitur, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid.

The change:

The FiturNext Observatory, which promotes replicable tourism practices for good by public and private actors.

The process:

The tourism industry is transforming at high speed in recent years. What are the engines that drive this change? On the one hand, the new preferences of travellers, who see tourism more and more as an investment in oneself and a way to contribute to the place they visit. On the other, the need to respond to challenges such as destination overload, gentrification and environmental impact.Given these changes and emerging challenges, it is crucial to move towards a tourism model that can generate a positive impact. To this end, we have set up, together with Fitur, the FiturNext Observatory, an innovation observatory in the tourism sector. We have created a methodology that allows us to identify systemic challenges facing the sector and find innovative initiatives that respond to those challenges. We analyse these initiatives based on two criteria: the actual impact generated and their potential for replicability (adoption). We work to document the selected initiatives and provide recipes so that other agents in the sector can replicate them and thus maximize their impact.
