The challenge:

Generate a space for vision and co-creation that, in the context of the connected home and energy sustainability, allows the identification of business models that place value on its assets and capabilities.

The impact:

New business opportunities are identified in the areas of connected home and air conditioning systems (2017). The new Baxi Solutions business unit is created, a comprehensive HVAC solution for new constructions. Collecting successful results, another Pentagrowth process began in 2020. The strategic climate change - HVAC change framework is developed and 12 business ideas are co-created. As of March 2020, they are in the validation phase to pass on to the next step: prototype and testing of the minimum viable products.

The process: 

BAXI is positioned as a benchmark in the boiler market. Faced with technological changes with an impact on the HVAC industry, BAXI's Management team aims to make a strategic exploration of the new areas of opportunity in its business.In 2017, a Pentagrowth consultancy was carried out to explore and design new business models based on the connected home and the IoT in HVAC.An investigation was conducted in order to analyse the waves of change that may affect Baxi's market. In particular, the areas of the energy revolution and the transformation of the home were explored and a new strategic framework was created: "from gas boilers to home management systems".In this framework, a co-creation workshop was developed in which, together with a group of 20 people from Baxi, a series of opportunities related to the energy revolution and the connected home were designed. From these reflections, Baxi Solutions was born, a new business unit that offers an integral solution in HVAC for new constructions.In 2020, the Baxi Management team decides to carry out a new Pentagrowth process, including the validation and prototype phase to explore new businesses in a new scenario: on the one hand, Baxi Solutions shows rapid growth and, on the other, there is an acceleration in the demand of energy transformation by those who can afford it.A team of 25 people is formed and the process is developed to explore new opportunities in a context of energy transformation in which climate change impacts on HVAC. In this sense, the HVAC 2030 strategic framework is created and 12 innovative business ideas are developed.The consultancy is currently in process in the phase of validation of business ideas, and to the prototype and testing phase of the minimum viable products in a month's time.
