In October 2011 Ideas for Change was a very special part of the organization based in Barcelona CIMAM (International Committee of ICOM for Museums and Collection of Modern Art). As part of its annual conference “Museums and Cities”, to be held in Ljubljana and Zagreb during the month of November of that year, CIMAM sought a “tool of crisis” that would provide the conceptual resources museums and ideas direct implementation reducing costs to most experienced.
Another goal proposed that cultural institutions compartiesen actions already underway and should be located on a framework for creative thinking in the face of future challenges.
Ideas for Change devised a form of group dynamics that proved entertaining for participants and effective in generating innovative ideas. The proposed workshop, an hour and a half, was as follows: each group was assigned a verb (“REUSE”, “DEVELOP”, “REMOVE” RETHINK “,” SHARE “,” LEARN “) and was asked to think of possible actions – the most radical to the basics – that were within the verb which he belongs. The resulting ideas were to be targeted in post-it’s a view of all participants. Then, participants were divided into micro computers and chose leaders who expressed ideas to the group thought. Among all were voted the top 3. The vote was instituting a system widely used in the contexts of social innovation, where colored cards (green, yellow, red) show the degree of agreement / disagreement of the participants with the ideas.
The workshops were a success: they were validated through innovative ideas that challenged the existing lines of action and posed ways to generate value at lower cost. The results of this collective process of innovative and creative thinking are reflected in the following diagram, published in the February Newsletter CIMAM
